NEWS:
It was a great and super busy summer for me. I did four Plein Air competitions, with a couple of awards and lots of sales, but the real benefit of these is that it pushes me to do my best and also getting to hang with my artist friends and make new ones!! I've also had a lot of comissions come my way, I'm posting these on my comissions page of this website. If you are interested, email me and lets collaborate! I get very busy towards Christmas with these, so it's not too soon to contact me to schedule.
View my artwork in person at these upcoming events/sales: (check back for updates!)
The Art Shanty, Fishtown, September 19-25, Leland MI.
Northport Arts Association Holiday Arts & Crafts Sale, November 25, 10-4, exact location TBD
Galleries: I am currently represented by the Ruth Conklin Gallery in Glen Arbor, MI and the Lansing Art Gallery in downtown Lansing, MI.
Last September I began my project with the GRIT (Gaining Recovery In Transition) Grant from the NEA through the Arts Council of Greater Lansing. The focus is on farm areas, fields, and the open lands of Michigan and the Midwest. I'm hoping to exhibit these works eventually...and will do more plein air painting of this theme throughout this spring and summer.
The U.S. Department of State's Art in Embassies (AIE) Program recently interviewed me and made this great video as part of their "3 questions" series, about my creative process and art, check it out HERE. Over the last couple of years, several of my paintings were selected to exhibit with the U.S. Department of State's Art in Embassies programs in Suva, Fiji, Belgrade, Serbia, and the NATO ambassador's residence in Brussels, Belgium, to represent the beauty of Michigan! More information can be found here. View the Fiji exhibition here, the Belgrade exhibition here. and Brussels here. Also check out this episode of Creative Conversations With Roger Humphrey to hear some thoughts on music, art and other stuff. His other episodes with creative types are even better :)
Products: notecards and (new!) bookmarks.

My wife and I have been looking through the gallery on your website, and your paintings are absolutely stunning. My wife grew up in Northport and her family still lives in the area, so Leelenau County is like a second home to us. Your work really captures the natural beauty of Michigan, and I'd love to have one of your pieces in our home. . . . thank you for showcasing our beautiful state!
